The meeting was opened at 7.45 p.m. by Jeff Carl, Deputy Chair of the WCCC who welcomed members of the committee and the public.

Apologies were received from Bob Sutherland and Alan Henderson.

Jeff Carl reported that he had attended the Combined Community Council meeting with the Chief Ministers Department on 8^th September 98. The main speaker was John Baylis who talked about the after-hours use of school premises.

A local business operator asked about the proposal by Royals to build an outdoor bistro. Jeff suggested that she ask the club manager about the proposal.

Jeff reported that the proposed Police shop-front at Woden Plaza was not going ahead.

The issue of the siting of the youth recreation facility was raised. Jeff reported that two sites in the vicinity of Weston Oval had been shortlisted. A meeting attendee asked about the provision of toilet facilities at the site. Jeff stated that the composition of the recreation facility has not been finalised.
